Under the cut is a meme about my year in review. Lesson to take away? I'm really glad to be out of school. As in REALLY GLAD.

1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Got my MA degree, that was definitely a biggie.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn’t make any last year. I don’t really understand resolutions made only at the turn of the new year – every day is a new chance, not just once a year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Please, I’m a woman in my late 20s. People are having babies left, right, and center.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my grandmother. :(

5. What countries did you visit?
England (London), and France (Paris). Also, New York, Chicago, Florida, and several places in CA.

6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Children. A finished house. A *clean* house.

7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I graduated on my birthday – again. Also, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was released on July 16th.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Again, graduating with my MA. Also, I got back in contact with several friends I’d lost touch with: Julie, Sadie, Aaron.

9. What was your biggest failure?
House is still not finished.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I injured my left piriformus muscle in March or April, resulting in sciatica, months of medication, and physical therapy for several weeks. It still hurts, but not badly.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Tickets to London. But in terms of physical stuff, I really, really, REALLY like my Mac G4 12” Powerbook.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My mom’s – she quit smoking – FOR GOOD!

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Sometimes mine, sometimes Bryans, sometimes behaviors from my friends and family. I refuse to rehash it here.

14. Where did most of your money go?
The house took up gobs and gobs of it.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Vacation! London! Paris! VACATION!

16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
I listen to too much music to select one song.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier, much! Having the house near completion and being out of school are VERY good for my mental state.
ii. thinner or fatter? Fatter. Not by much, but still.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Relaxing.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting on my butt on the couch reading.

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With both my family and Bryan’s family.

22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
Yes. Bryan’s continually a surprise to me. It doesn’t mean I haven’t wanted to throttle him once a month, but I love him now more than I loved him when we married.

23. How many one-night stands?
None.

24. What was your favorite TV program?
Arrested Development

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate? No. Dislike more than last year? Definitely.

26. What was the best book you read?
Elske, by Cynthia Voigt, but it’s a re-read.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I heart my iPod. This year I began listening to the Kings of Convenience, the Killers, Gotan Project, Israel Kamakawiwo’ole, Moby (I always knew him, but I’ve been listening to his stuff much more), and Wilco.

28. What did you want and get?
iPod. My degree.

29. What did you want and not get?
Um, yeah. I plead the fifth.

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
The Goblet of Fire. Please.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I graduated. I got taken out to a lovely lunch with Bryan, my mom, my FIL, my grandma, my aunt, my uncle, my brother, and his girlfriend. I turned 27.

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I’d let go of some grudges and regrets I’ve been harboring.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005?
More stylish and “smart” than in previous years. I LOVE MY BOOTS. And I love skirts that hit just below the knee. Preferably, I love them together.

34. What kept you sane?
Bryan. Scout. My friends. Being able to write in my journal.

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Ewan McGregor (sp?), Jason Bateman, um… um… I’m drawing a blank but I know there are more…

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Tighter border control and illegal immigration. More specifically: why nothing is being done to target the problem or to enforce the rules about not hiring illegal aliens who are here. Living in CA this is a HUGE concern for me.

37. Who did you miss?
Hadley’s still living in London. Corinne’s still living in D.C. all of my online pals in their various locations. etc. :(

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I didn’t really branch out this year – just tried to cement the friendships I’d already made.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2005:
Treasure the people you care about; you never know when you’ll be parted from them.

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you
