FAB-U-LOUS.
It was amazing. He sounded absolutely fantastic and he really seemed to be enjoying himself. He played 4 or 5 new songs, and most of them sound surprisingly good- a lot like some of his earlier stuff. He played one Smiths song, and a few of his singles, but the one thing I was hoping he'd play he didn't (the more you ignore me). He played for about an hour and a half, and then just abruptly walked off stage. After about five minutes he and the band came back out, played his first single off the new album (irish blood, english heart), said Good night! and walked off stage, ending the concert.
Now here's the thing, I like Moz all right, but I'm not one of the huge fans who flip out into a drooling puddle of goo when I see a picture of him. I can appreciate the songs, and Morrissey as a man makes me laugh, but I honestly never spent a lot of time thinking about him (as opposed to the people in back of us who must have had been fantasizing about him for years, as evidenced by their "Omigod, omigod, omigod, omigod, omigod, omigod, I think I'm going to faint! Ayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!" that occurred every so often throughout the concert. But I'll say this for the guy - he is a
magnetic performer. I am so extremely impressed by his live performance. I was ready to try to start screaming how hot he was and lunge up onstage myself towards the end.
At one point he said
None of you were tempted by the Greek [theatre - a huge venue here in LA] tonight?
crowd murmurs confusedlyI heard Dave Matthews is playing there tonight.
crowd screams, some boo, some laughOh, you know you love Dave
