After almost a month long hiatus, I am suddenly SLAMMED again at work. The new semester starts on Tuesday, and I had a whopping ten last minute applications to plow through this morning, and I've already met with about 8 people this morning wanting help with their fall applications. Come on, people, it's graduate school, we shouldn't have to hold your hands through the application process. It's not that bloody hard, I promise.

On my side, I still haven't even bought my books for this semester, nor have I checked yet what books I need to buy, so I don't have a clue how much money I'm going to have to spend this semester. Hopefully it's not too much money - we're going to be tight this month since we're finally buying some living room furniture and our long awaited carpeting. I'm worried that I'm going to get the stats book and freak out when I look at what they expect me to know. I'm not really that bad at math, but I haven't taken calculus since my first semester in college, and I remember not a damn thing. Guess I'll bite the bullet later today and make my way over to the bookstore to write down the book info.

Fun stuff. Really.

I hope your books aren't too much. Mine are crazily expensive. I don't know how they get away with it. A lot of my professors assign their own books... interesting, eh? I wonder why.

I'm in a stats class too this semester. I can't remember how much the book was...I bought it last semester and then dropped it due not being able to handle a 1/week math class with a professor I couldn't understand to begin with.

Good luck!

Funny enough, I went to the bookstore this morning *positive* that my stats book was going to be insanely expensive. But when I got there, there were no books assigned by the prof. I couldn't believe it, so I had a clerk check in the system. Nope. No books for either the class number or the prof's name. So now I wonder if I'm just going to have one freakishly expensive reading packet I'll have to buy. That kind of bites - at least if it were a textbook I could see it back after the semester ends.

BTW, bellagrace, are you from the WC? If so, what's your username there (sorry for asking something that may very well be answered elsewhere - I can't keep up with everyone)?

In order for me to take stats, I have to take college algebra (algebra II and trig). I haven't taken any math since high school because I tested out of math for my first bachelor's degree. yep, feeling your pain.
